Scope and Contents

Henry Drury, master of Harrow School, writes to Sir Benjamin Hobhouse about his unruly son, (Edward) Isaac Hobhouse. Drury complains of the behaviour of Isaac, particularly his letting off fireworks in the house and "a determined defiance of all authority". As a consequence, Drury recommends that Isaac is removed from the school and placed under a private tutor, before he is "publically expelled". Folios 1-2.
