The manuscript here is for the short story, ‘Frances Beaumont’ by Letitia Landon, which was first published as part of ‘Traits and trials of early life’, in 1836. This volume was a book of moral short stories for girls.

Frances Beaumont is a character who must find employment as a governess to support her mother and sister after the death of her father leaves the family without income.
