The chronological list of the patients of William Ronald Dodds Fairbairn includes not only his private patients but also the patients he was treating at Edenhall Hospital, and others on behalf of organisations such as the Ministry of Pensions.

The chronological list records the following information: the patient’s number; the date the patient commenced treatment with Fairbairn; the patient’s surname; the patient’s Christian names and title; and occasionally notes, including the type of treatment the patient was receiving, and where and on behalf of whom they were being treated.

The list is in several hands, including that of Fairbairn. It is unclear to whom the other hands belong; probably Fairbairn`s secretaries and, possibly, his first wife, Mary Ann More Gordon.
