Scope and Contents
The contents are as follows.
(i) Letters of James MacLeod to his brother, Donald, 3rd of Geanies, from Virginia, 1773-1775, where he was employed as a storekeeper by Messrs Speirs and Company of Glasgow, and from St Vincent in the West Indies, 1776, discussing his venture into the sugar plantations. (Folio 1.)
(ii) Letters of William MacLeod to his father and his brother Donald, 3rd of Geanies, 1770, 1772-1775, from Maryland where he was also employed by Messrs Speirs and Company of Glasgow. (Folio 18.)
(iii) Letters of Duncan MacLeod to his brother, Donald, 3rd of Geanies, 1778-1779. These letters come from London and Gorcum in Holland where he was completing his education before entering the mercantile and banking House of Crawford in Rotterdam. (Folio 50.)
