Miscellaneous papers relating to the MacLeods of Geanies., 1672-early 20th century.
Scope and Contents
The papers include a letter of 1672 from Kenneth Mackenzie of Suddie to David Corbat of Ballingall (folio 1), and genealogical tables and notes of the MacLeods of Assynt and Geanies, 1739 to early 20th century (folio 2). Also, correspondence of William Palmer and his wife, Mary, sister to Margaret Crawford the wife of Donald MacLeod, 3rd of Geanies, 1796-1824. The letters are chiefly from George and James Crawford and discuss the dispute between the two brothers over the finances of the house of Crawford, Rotterdam. There are also two letters from the authoress Hester Lynch Piozzi (folio 71).
