Typed copies of diaries of Jane C Burdon-Sanderson of journey to India., 1886, 1888-1889.
Scope and Contents
The volume consists of:
(i) A copy of part of the diary, covering the period 18 March to 1 April 1886, of the earlier journey (folio 1);
(ii) A complete copy of the diary of the later journey (folio 21);
(iii) Some watercolour sketches made in India (folio 181 verso).
The typed copy of the later journey was made in 1889 or 1890 for Elizabeth Burdon-Sanderson, whose signature dated May 1890 is at MS.20669, folio i. No doubt she was responsible for pasting in Jane's watercolour sketches of people and places in India at folios 159 verso, 181 verso-193 verso, and a photograph of a scene in Bournemouth at folio i verso.
Folios 59 and 60 are in reverse order.
