Scope and Contents
The papers include copies of ‘History of Keith Marischal of Scotland’ by Alexander Keith of Ravelston and Dunnottar (folio 7); ‘History of the family of Keith Marischal’ by Bishop Robert Keith (folio 45), and an essay and letters of Alexander Keith of Ravelston and Dunnottar concerning Bishop Keith's ‘History’ (folios 2, 52-60).
Appended to the inside of the front and back covers of the volume are an English Translation, 1802, of the German inscription on Marshal Keith's Tomb in Prussia; a copy of a Latin inscription, undated, "wrote on the Black Rock of Dunottar"; and a printed letter, circa 1758, of ‘A.B.’ concerning an anecdote about Marshal James Keith.
