(i) Ten letters of Thomas Carlyle to his sister Jean Aitken, 1856-1871; five are autograph; five are only signed (number 1);

(ii) Fifty-five letters to John Sterling, 1835-1844, (number 11), that of [?June] 1838 (number 19) a being a copy; included is one addressed to Sterling’s mother, 1842 (number 38).
