Scope and Contents

The contents are as follows. (i) Typescript, with manuscript corrections, of part of a work on Sir William Wallace with the deleted title, 'Lang Syne', circa l935 (folio l); (ii) Typescript of the beginning of a satire, 'Lowland Scots as a literary medium', undated (folio ll); (iii) Typescripts of two unfinished versions of the story, 'Walpurgis Eve', undated (folio l3). The title has been altered to 'Lost Tribes', but only the opening page of one version (folio l4) corresponds to the story of that title in ‘Masterpiece of Thrills’ (London, 1936), pages 623-630. (iv) 'Siva plays the game', from ‘T.P.'s and Cassell's Weekly’, 18 October 1924 (folio 47); (v) 'If you sleep in the moonlight', from ‘Grim death’, edited by C C Thomson (London, 1928), pages 13-18 (folio 48); (vi) 'Near Farnboru', from ‘Reynolds's Illustrated News’, 12 July 1931 (folio 53); (vii) 'Clay', from the ‘Fife and Angus Annual’, xi (1935), pages 105-107 (folio 54); (viii) Typescript, undated, of a dramatised version of the story, 'Cockrow', published in ‘The Calends of Cairo’ (London, [1931])(folio 56). (ix) Typescript, undated, of a dramatisation of the story, 'The Road', published in the ‘Cornhill Magazine’ lxvii (1929), pages 341-352, and under the title "The Lost Prophetess', in ‘The Calends of Cairo’ (London, [1931])( (folio ll2).
