Scope and Contents

Letters, 1819-1835, of, to and concerning Alexander Warden and various members of the Warden family in relation to his life in Trinidad, his role as a surgeon in the militia, his views on slavery, the emancipation of enslaved people and resistance to slavery, and advice to his brother in Turriff (folios 1-44).

Letters, 1836-1842, of MB Warden to various members of the Warden family, and of John Watson to MB Warden, concerning Alexander Warden’s death, plans to send her children to Scotland to be educated and her financial and business problems after Alexander Warden’s death (folios 45- folio 68).

Letters, 1840-1849, of Robert M Warden to Robert Warden concerning his life, employment and training as a minister in Trinidad (folios 70-79).

Letters, contracts and certificates, 1823-1857, of, to and concerning Robert Warden in relation to his training as a carpenter, posts in the excise office, a journey to Aberdeen and payments to his family after his death (folios 81-90).
