Notes of Ian Rankin relating to the development of the plot and characters for ‘Tooth and Nail’.

The notes include references to specific drafts, including first and final drafts. The distinction between notes relating to specific drafts is not always clear. Some notes have been revisited and subsequently annotated by Rankin as his development of the novel progressed.

Included are editorial notes relating to plot and character revisions and additional plot development for revised drafts (Folios 48-63).

Most of the notes are undated. The arrangement of the notes has been suggested by theme and development of revisions.
