Scope and Contents

The contents are as follows: Transcript, 1818, by Lieutenant-General G H Hutton of the cartulary of the Poor Hospital, Elgin, 1548, which consists of authenticated copies of relevant extracts from the cartularies of the diocese of Moray, late 13th century-1548, or before. (Adv.MS.9A.1.10);

Transcript, 1818, made for Lieutenant-General G H Hutton of the copy, 1739, made for Walter Macfarlane, of the notarial transcripts, 1420, of charters relating to the Abbey of Inchcolm. (Adv.MS.9A.1.11).

The copy (from which the transcript of Adv.MS.9A.1.11was made), made for Walter Macfarlane in 1739 is now Adv.MS.35.2.5, folios 1-29. The notarial transcripts of 1420 are kept at Darnaway Castle.
