Award card, 2009, announcing Ian Rankin as winner of the Audible UK Sounds of Crime Award for his novel 'Doors Open' read by James MacPherson.

Ephemera, 1997, from the Crime Writers Association’s Dagger Awards ceremony, where Ian Rankin was awarded with the CWA Macallan Gold Dagger for Fiction for his novel 'Black & Blue'. Included are invitations, Ian Rankin’s name tag, the programme for the event, and the Gold Dagger Award golden envelope. Folios 10-16.



Invitation and menu, 2005, of Ian Rankin for the CWA Diamond Dagger award ceremony, at which he was presented with the Cartier Diamond Dagger award. Folios 17-21.

World Record certificate, 1999, presented to Rankin with the inscription: ‘The author Ian Rankin topped the Scottish Bestseller List on 26 February 1999 with his book ‘Dead Souls’ and had a further seven titles in the top ten. In the same year on 12 March, he had a total of 11 books in the top twenty’.

Letter, 2003, awarding Ian Rankin the second place German Crime Award for Best Crime Novel International.

Envelope, 2004, announcing Ian Rankin's novel 'Resurrection Men' as winner of best novel at the Edgar Awards.

Radio Forth/TSB Short Story Competition first place (adult section) certificate, 1984, won by Ian Rankin for his short story ‘Walking Naked’. Certificate is signed by Peter Ustinov on verso. Also includes a letter to Rankin from Ruth Morrison at Radio Forth informing him of his success, and a schedule and guest list for the prize giving ceremony on 17 August 1984.

Scottish Open Poetry Competition.



Award certificate, 1980-1981, presented to Ian Rankin for winning seventh place for his poem ‘The Plague’. Folio 49.
