A folder containing loose sheets of various sizes as follows:

[? MacNicol, Dugald]. Song headed "Oran air fonn 'Moch 'sa mhaddin dé dònah' &c". 4 stanzas of 8 lines and one stanza of 6 lines, in praise of Inveraray and surroundings, beginning 'Coirm na taca sheo 'n uridh / Bha mi mullach Stron Shira'. At head of title: 'O. Island St. Lucia 15 Nov. 1816.' Probabossibly in the hand of Dugald MacNicol, and composed by him. Formerly Acc.2152/5. Folio 1.

Letter, 1779, of Rev. Donald Mackinnon, vicar of Claybrooke, to Rev. Donald MacNicol, concerning William Shaw's Gaelic dictionary, James Macpherson, and a translation into Gaelic of Lady Anne Lindsay's song 'Auld Robin Gray', which follows below. Formerly Acc.2152/7. Folios 2-5.

'Auld Robin Gray', a song in Scots by Lady Anne Lindsay with a Gaelic translation by Mr. Stewart, who is identified as Stewart of Invernahyle by Mackechnie (vol. I, p. 329). Each stanza in Scots is followed by its translation into Gaelic. In the hand of Rev. Donald MacNicol. The Gaelic version begins '[Nuai]r bha eoin bheg nan geug / 'S gach spreigh air dol gu tamh'. A version of this was published in 'An Teachdaire Gaelach' 2 (1830-1831), pp. 70-71, where the translator's initials are being given as T.S. (Teàrlach Stiùbhart?). The translation as found here, together with part of Mackinnon's letter, are published in George Henderson (ed.), 'Am Bolg Solair: the Pedlar's Pack', Glasgow [1907], pp. 73-76. Formerly Acc.2152/8.
