Scope and Contents

The letters in this folder concern the separation of Lord and Lady Byron. The letters have been arranged in three sections: contemporary letters; letters of and to John Murray III and IV concerning the letters relating to the separation of Lord and Lady Byron; and an excerpt and typescript copies of letters concerning the separation of Lord and Lady Byron.

Two copies of transcriptions of "Letters about the Byron separation in the possession of Mrs Spearman" [probably Diana Spearman], undated. These include transcriptions of letters dating 1816-1830, and includes transcriptions of agreements. The correspondents include Lord Byron, Lady Byron, Scrope Davies, Francis Hastings Doyle, John Cam Hobhouse, Robert Wilmot Horton (formerly Wilmot) and Thomas Moore: folios 157-246.
