From the Series:
Dr (later Sir) David Brewster, Secretary of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, 1819-1828, and President, 1864-1868, appears to have started collecting meteorological records about 1818. The majority of his observers lived in Scotland, but there were some from England, continental Europe, and countries occupied by the British Empire.
