Extract registered discharge Mr Alexander Hay of Forrestersait to Sir John Skene of Curriehill for 6000 merks due as tocher for Katherine Skene his daughter by marriage contract dated 14 December 1607. Extract registered contract at Edinburgh 3 November 1648 between William Fairlie, son to the deceased Mr Alexander Fairlie merchant burgess of Edinburgh nearest agnate to the children of the deceased William Fairlie of Bruntisfield on the one part and Margaret Skene, relict of the said deceased William on the other part whereby William gives up his right of tutory in favour of Margaret Skene while she remains alive and unmarried and Margaret Skene agrees to pay 250 merks yearly to the said William and his mother Helen Dennistoun during the tutory. Witnesses: Mr David Heriot eldest son to Mr David Heriot, advocate and John Nicolsone, writer in Edinburgh, 232. Procuratory of resignation by Sir James Skene, eldest son to Sir John Skene of Curriehill Kt (appointing Mr Robert Leirmonth, advocate his procurator) in favour of Mr John Skene, his brother, of his office of clerkship of the bills fulfilling a decreet arbitrall to which the deceased Mr William Skene youngest son of Sir John Skene of Curriehill Kt consented. Binning, principal secretary to the King, Sir Gideon Murray of Elibank Kt, treasurer depute, Patrick Innes, clerk in exchequer and James Skene writer there. 233. Instrument of resignation following on 232. Same date and witnesses. Notary: Alexander Dunlop. 234. Mutual discharge at Edinburgh 25 March 1615 between Sir John Skene of Currihill Kt on the one part and Mr John Skene his second son as Sir Alexander Hay of Forresterseat has taken on the obligation of paying 3,000 merks owed to the said Mr John. Witnesses: James Dunlope of that ilk, Job Symsoun and Mr James Lawe, writers in Edinburgh and Robert Hepburne, servitor to the said Sir Alexander Hay. 235. Discharge Sir John Skene of Curriehill Kt to his son Mr John Skene, clerk of the deliverance of the bills before the Lords of Session for £142:10 owed as duty on the said office. Discharge Sir James Skene of Currihill, Kt, Rachel Johnestoun, relict of John Jaksoun, merchant burgess of Edinburgh and William Brown, merchant burgess of Edinburgh as tutors to Rachell, Janet, Helen and Elspeth Jaksoun children and executors of the deceased John to Mr John Skene, son to Sir John Skene of Currihill, Kt. as cautioner for James Dunlop of that ilk for 550 merks due by bond. Extract registered discharge Sir James Skene of Curriehill to Mr John Skene his brother for 1200 merks due on a decreet arbitrall to which Sir John Skene of Curriehill and William Skene his youngest son were also parties relating to the office of clerkship of the deliverance of the bills, to which Mr John was admitted. Extract from the testament of William Rig, elder, merchant burgess of Edinburgh who deceased 2 July 1619 given up by William Rig younger his son confirmed executor 18 August 1620 where he declares that he leaves nothing to his daughter Alison and Mr John Skene her spouse but £1000 to their son John. Copy discharge Mr John Skene, one of the ordinary clerks of session to William Rig, merchant burgess of Edinburgh as executor to William Rig, his father for £1000 left to Alison Rig his spouse, £1000 to John Skene his son, 4000 merks to Kathrene Skene his daughter and 600 merks to Helen Skene his daughter to be spent of a gold chain on her wedding day. At Edinburgh, 28 December 1620. Witnesses: Mr Alexander Peirsone, advocate, David Andersone, W.S. and Robert Duncansone, servitor to Mr John Skene. Registered Edinburgh, 3 December 1624. 245. Extract registered marriage contract at Edinburgh 25 March 1619 between Sir Lues Craig of Ricartoun, Kt, Senator of the College of Justice, and Marioun Somervell daughter to the deceased Patrick Somervell burgess of Edinburgh with consent of Sir James Skene of Curriehill Kt, and of Mr John Skene, one of the ordinary clerks of session, her curators. Tocher to be 8000 merks with 10000 merks added by Sir Lues, Marioun to have the life rent thereof. Also provision to be made anent her share in the Edinburgh beir and aill society. At Edinburgh, 5 January 1627.
