The journal covers the period 18 September 1759, to 9 September 1760.

At the end of the notebook are 'Copies of some papers which passed between General Wolfe and the brigadiers' (namely, Robert Monckton, George Townsend, and James Murray), dated August and September 1759.

Custodial History

The notebook was purchased by Blackwood in 1849 from a relative of the Murray family.

Bibliography

The portion of the journal dated from September 1759 to May 1760 was printed in 1870 by the Historical Society of Quebec. It is quoted passim by R H Mahon in his 'Life of General the Hon. James Murray' (London, 1921).
