“Heures roϊalles contenant l'office divin et plusieurs Oraisons tres-devotes”, a prayerbook written in Belgium.
Scope and Contents
The prayerbook contains the Mass (folio 20), preparation for confession and communion (folio 71), the Penitential Psalms (folio 136), litanies of the saints (folio 309 verso) and of the Virgin (folio 320 verso), Vespers for Sundays (folio 215), and the 'Ordo benedicti habitum [sic: 'benedictionis habitus' is meant] Confraternitatis S. Joannis decollate' (folio 330), as well as other liturgical material and numerous prayers intended for private use. There is a list of contents on folios 355-359.
There are a few pen-drawings, and seven engravings of religious scenes have been inserted. On folio 346 verso is the inscription 'Ce present Livre est Ecrit par Le nommé Hubert Petitpas, dit Varin du Regiment du Marquis de prié, Fait a Mons ce 22e Octobre 1734'.
