Sederunt-book of the Anstruther Whale-Fishing Company, a small and short-lived Fife whaling company liquidated in 1766.
Scope and Contents
The minutes contain accounts of the fitting-out, provisioning, and voyages of the company's single whaling vessel to Greenland waters, 1757 to 1762. There is considerable detail of the general financial fortunes of the company, especially with regard to insurance of the ship, the government bounty, and marketing of whaling products. There are also occasional references to other contemporary Scottish whaling companies.
