Custodial History

The manuscript belonged to Thomas Ruddiman, and bears an inscription in his hand. In 1761 it was in the possession of John Gordon of Buthlaw, advocate. A letter from Ruddiman to Gordon, 1748, is inserted, together with two other letters, 1789, 1910, concerning the manuscript. The manuscript was presented to the Advocates` Library in 1910 by Charles Thomas Gordon, of Cairness, Advocate.

Presented, 1925, by the Faculty of Advocates to the nation on the foundation of the National Library of Scotland.

Bibliography

The ‘History’ was edited for the Spalding Club by Joseph Robertson and George Grub (Aberdeen, 1841). The first half of the edition is based on a copy in King`s College, Aberdeen, and the second on this manuscript.
