Custodial History

The manuscript was apparently presented to the Church of Scotland in 1646 by Sir John Scot of Scotstarvet who, according to an endorsement, had received it from France five years earlier. It was presented to the Advocates’ Library in 1704 by John, Earl of Sutherland.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Presented, 1925, by the Faculty of Advocates to the nation on the foundation of the National Library of Scotland.

Bibliography

The manuscript is included in the list of covenants in ‘Covenanters’ by J K Hewison (Glasgow, 1908), volume i, pages 81-91, and printed, with facsimile on pages 101-103.
