Scope and Contents
The contents are as follows.
(i) A copy of the compilation by Sir George Mackenzie of Rosehaugh. For notes on some of the manuscripts and a list of the families treated in the text, see R W Munro, “Notes on Sir George Mackenzie's ‘Families of Scotland’”, in ‘The Scottish genealogist’, volume iv (1957), pages 38-42. This copy was made after July 1684, when the Earl of Linlithgow gave up his colonelcy of the Guards. (Folio 1.)
(ii) 'The genealogie of the nobility of Scotland, present and extinct. Collected . . . by J.D.' (folio 168). The initials have been altered to J T. It is followed by lists of chancellors and other dignitaries (folio 264), lists of knights, baronets and gentlemen in each county (folio 269 verso), and other related material.
