Maritime journal of Alexander Gladstone.
Content Description
Entitled "Extracts from a journal kept on board the "Medora" on her voyage to the Island of Trinidad in the winter of 1843. By Alexr Gladstone". The extracts were made for an unnamed acquaintance, whom Gladstone asks to guard the volume well so that it does not circulate among acquaintances. - The "Medora" set off from Greenock on 22 November 1843 with six passengers on board, and reached Port of Spain in July 1844. The journal contains many references to the writer's poor health and self-administered cures and medication. With pencil inscriptions of later owner, "William Pennington Pottery Flags Lpool".
