Shāh-Nāmah of Firdausī, written in a Nasta'liq hand.
Scope and Contents
The first page, which is blank, bears two library stamps and two manuscript notes. The two following pages are illuminated in blue and gold, and there is an illuminated heading on folio 7 verso, where the poem begins, the previous pages containing the preface. The writing, 25 lines to a page, divided into four columns, is surrounded by a blue and gilt border, 8½ inches x 5¼ inches. The colophon states that the manuscript was written at Tabriz and finished in the month of Rajab, A.H. 969 (March 1562).

Custodial History
The first note on the first page states that the book became the property of the "Library of Ma’mun" on 22 Jumada II, A.H. 1019 (12 September 1610), at which date it appears to have been already bound in its present form. According to the second note, it was acquired by the library of His Majesty Shajācat Khān (?) in A.H. 1046 (A.D. 1636).

The binding is of leather, embossed and gilt, with the title embossed on the flap.
