The description is partly based on the "Catalogue of the manuscripts in the Advocates’ Library. XII. Miscellaneous manuscripts” (F.R.195).
Custodial History
The manuscripts were presented to the Faculty of Advocates in 1905 by Lord Gifford’s son, Mr H J Gifford, Rugby.
Of these manuscripts the following volumes, namely numbers I, III, IV, VII, VIII, X, XI, XVI, XIX and XXX were delivered on 28 February 1906 to Miss Alice Raleigh, Oxford, in terms of resolution of the curators of 21 February 1906.

Presented, 1925, by the Faculty of Advocates to the nation on the foundation of the National Library of Scotland.
