Miscellaneous letters and papers of the Faculty of Advocates Library.
Scope and Contents
The papers include the following.
(i) List, 1781, of books offered by Principal Robertson, University of Edinburgh, at cost price, with signature of Principal Robertson.
(ii) Report, 1781, on the state of the papers of James Anderson, editor of 'Diplomata Scotiae'.
(iii) Autograph letter, 1783, of Henry Dundas enclosing a catalogue of books which might be purchased.
(iv) List, 1783, of Spanish books belonging to the late Principal Watson, St Andrews, with autograph letter, 1783, of Dr Hugh Blair.
(v) Printed letter, 1786, of the Faculty inquiring as to particulars of Scottish manuscripts abroad, especially those relating to religious houses.
(vi) Permission to Mr Pinkerton to copy certain parts of the Bannatyne manuscript.
(vii) Petition, 1790, of the curators to the Lord Provost, etc., of Edinburgh respecting the rooms recently occupied by the General Records of Scotland.
(viii) Books purchased at the sale of Pinelli's Library, 1790.
