The contents are as follows: Last letter written by Mary Queen of Scots, on 8 February, 1587 (the night before her execution), to her brother-in-law, Henri III of France (Adv.MS.54.1.1);

Marriage articles of Mary Queen of Scots and François II of France; and ‘Memoire des affaires d’escosse pour diceulx estre escript a n[?]e s[?] pere le pape de la part du Roy daulphin [François II] et Royne daulphine [Mary Queen of Scots] soubs le bon plaisir et intencion du Roy’, 1558-1559 (Adv.MS.54.1.2);

Letter, 1564, of Mary Queen of Scots to her cousin and brother-in-law Henri d`Angoulême, Abbot de la Chaise-Dieu, natural son of Henri II and Lady Fleming, Queen Mary’s aunt. (Adv.MS.54.1.3);

Autograph letter, 1574, of Mary Queen of Scots to James Beaton, Archbishop of Glasgow and her Ambassador in France, thanking him for sweetmeats, and requesting that all assistance may be given to Madame de Briante, who has returned to France about certain law suits. (Adv.MS.54.1.4);

Letter of Mary of Guise to François de Noailles, Bishop of Dax, Ambassador of Henri II in England, thanking him for sending her news, with an autograph postscript (Adv.MS.54.1.5).
