Scope and Contents
17 issues of 'The Gael: A magazine for mutual improvement' compiled between 1874 and 1887 by Marjorie Bonar of Glasgow from contributions from family members. The magazine (later bound together in a volume) contains articles, poems and illustrations. It includes descriptions of their excursions in Scotland, including a holiday in Oban, an account of ascending Ben Cruachan and an excursion to Iona and Staffa, and even some comic sketches about a journey to America in 1881. There was a special Christmas issue for 1874 and a jubilee issued in 1887.
