Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements

The original recordings were captured on shellac coarse groove disc, magnetic tape, and audio cassettes. The 7 masters (1 shellac disc, 30cm 78rpm; 2 compact cassettes, 1x C10, 1xC90; 4 tape reels, 3x8cm, 1x 10cm 3.75ips) were digitised under the Unlocking Our Sound Heritage (UOSH) project. The formats of the digitised copies are JPEG and WAV files.

Custodial History

The recordings were donated by Professor Read to St Andrews University Special Collections.

The tapes were temporarily deposited in the National Library of Scotland to enable digitisation under the Unlocking Our Sound Heritage (UOSH) project.
