Scope and Contents

The Edinburgh Borderers Rugby Football Club was formed in 1921. It was a Club for men from the Scottish Borders who lived and worked in Edinburgh.

The Club did well and won the Walkerburn Sevens in 1937, but with most players fghting in World War II, playing ceased in 1940.The Club began playing again in 1946.

By 1972, the Edinburgh Borderers became an invitation Club, playing largely mid-week games, mainly against public schools universities and some clubs, as well as charity matches.

The Club celebrated its centenary in 2021 and then disbanded.

The Edinburgh Borderers produced two Scotland international players - William Blackadder, who played for the national side in 1938, and Adam Robson, who played for Scotland between 1954-1960 and who was President of the Scottish Rugby Union from 1983-1984.
