Custodial History

The drawings were bought by the National Library of Scotland with the aid of the Reid Fund.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Bought, Dowell's, 27 February 1951, lot 400.


Six of the drawings are reproduced in ‘Scotia depicta’ (London, 1804), and eight in David MacGibbon and Thomas Ross, ‘The castellated and domestic architecture of Scotland’ (Edinburgh, 1887-1892), and ‘The ecclesiastical architecture of Scotland’ (Edinburgh, 1896-1897). The remainder appear to be unpublished.
