Most of the papers concern the Canal proprietors' negotiations with the local landowners, at first to acquire land to build the Canal, and later in disputes about rights and ownership. There are also records of tolls paid, and accounts for damages to property.

This loose collection of papers belonged to Duncan Campbell, who was born at the farm of Kerrumore, Glenlyon, of which his family had been tenants for three generations. He was editor of the ‘Northern Chronicle’, co-editor of the ‘Highland Monthly’, and author of a number of works relating to Highland history, notably the ‘Book of Garth and Fortingall’.
