Arthur Elliot was the second son of the 3rd Earl of Minto and his papers form a valuable supplement to the Minto collection. Included here are papers of Sir Thomas Frederick Elliot, Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, and Emma, Lady Hislop, the grandmother of Arthur Elliot. William Soutar's output of work, most of it produced during the last thirteen bed-ridden years of his life, is quite remarkable.
