According to a statement by Chalmers (folio iv), the original manuscript was in the hands of James Pont in 1593. From him it passed to Joseph Stacey, Ross Herald, Henry Fraser, Ross Herald, and finally to Chalmers, who made this copy before restoring it to the Sinclair family.
