Scope and Contents The Scottish Plebiscite Society was formed by Peter Thomson (fl.1914-1991) to press for a plebiscite on the question of a Scottish parliament. In 1949 it conducted its own plebiscite in Kirriemuir and in which 85% of the local electors participated. Thomson’s continuing activity for the cause resulted in his dismissal as sheriff of South Strathclyde in 1977. Scope and Contents Rosemary Hall was born on 22nd April 1925 in Aberdeen. She spent her early life in Montrose where her father and uncle ran the family salmon fishing business. Hall began her schooling in Montrose. However, the outbreak of the war caused interruption and her school was evacuated to Speyside.
