Scope and Contents

The book contains verses, historical and literary material, notes of events in Roslin, 1869-1873, and fragments of a diary for 1895-1896. A later hand has added copies of poems and of the will, May 1927, of John Glover who died in 1933 (folio 96).

Scope and Contents Alastair Cram was educated at Perth Academy and Edinburgh University and started his working life as a solicitor in private practice at the Scottish Bar. In the Second World War he saw service with the Royal Regiment of Artillery and SAS during which time he was taken prisoner and was involved in several successful escapes. Eight ledgers or notebooks contain diary entries, draft letters and literary notes and drafts of stories, poems, plays and the novel 'Old men in love'; with six corrected and annotated typescripts of 'Fleck', a play; and a file of cuttings of reviews of the French edition of 'Lean tales'.

Scope and Contents This loose collection of papers belonged to Duncan Campbell, who was born at the farm of Kerrumore, Glenlyon, of which his family had been tenants for three generations. He was editor of the ‘Northern Chronicle’, co-editor of the ‘Highland Monthly’, and author of a number of works relating to Highland history, notably the ‘Book of Garth and Fortingall’.
