Scope and Contents Paul Henderson Scott was born and educated in Edinburgh, attending Edinburgh’s Royal High School and then moving on to study at Edinburgh University. It was at university that he first became involved with the Saltire Society. Shortly after this Scott was called up to serve in World War Two. Scope and Contents The Scottish Plebiscite Society was formed by Peter Thomson (fl.1914-1991) to press for a plebiscite on the question of a Scottish parliament. In 1949 it conducted its own plebiscite in Kirriemuir and in which 85% of the local electors participated. Thomson’s continuing activity for the cause resulted in his dismissal as sheriff of South Strathclyde in 1977.
