Tom Weir is probably best known for his long-running STV series ‘Weir’s Way’. He was born in Glasgow and served in the Royal Artillery during World War II. He worked as a surveyor for the Ordnance Survey before embarking on the career that was to make him a household name. Tom Weir is also notable as a mountaineer. Alastair Cram was educated at Perth Academy and Edinburgh University and started his working life as a solicitor in private practice at the Scottish Bar. In the Second World War he saw service with the Royal Regiment of Artillery and SAS during which time he was taken prisoner and was involved in several successful escapes.
