This collection dates mainly from after 1988, when John McGrath and Elizabeth MacLennan resigned from the company which they had established, with David MacLennan, in 1973. Following the funding crisis in 2006, the company had to leave its base in the STUC building in Glasgow, and it was at this point that much of the material in this accession was presented to the National Library of Scotland.

This photograph album relates to the Forestry Commission during the first half of the 20th century. The photographer and compiler of the album are unknown, but it is possible that the album was compiled by a long serving Forestry Commission officer.
The notes provided by Norman Davidson give detail about each photograph in the album. This research is dated 2017 was undertaken for the Forestry Memories website. The references in these notes relate to the same website.

For the sake of record, one file (‘Caledonia Dreaming’) has been kept in its entirety, though anyone wishing to consult it will have to comply with the terms of the Act and complete relevant paperwork. Potentially sensitive material, such as contracts, have been removed from all other files and shredded.
