She began her working life as a PA to a partner in a firm of accountants in Edinburgh. Eleven scrapbooks, 1899-1935, concerning Lord Robert MacGregor Mitchell (1875-1938), Scottish lawyer and judge, Liberal MP for Perth and University Rector.

The scrapbooks contain newspaper cuttings, letters, photographs and miscellaneous ephemera mostly documenting Lord Mitchell’s legal and political career, as well as his personal interests in golf and cricket.

Scope and Contents

The item is a programme and dinner organised in honour of Malcolm MasCalister, Owen Gillan, Robert Watt and Raymond Forbes by the Edinburgh University Nationalist Club following their release from prison. The four of them had been jailed in 1953 for possession of gelignite and a fuse.

The programme is signed by Forbes, Gillan, Watt, Roland Eugene Muirhead and am unknown signatory.

Dates: 26 July 1954.
