Confirmation, 12 January 1410, by Alexander, Earl of Mar of charter, 23 March 1386, by John Swinton of Ilk and Margaret, Countess of Douglas and Mar in favour of Andrew Garioch and Janet, his daughter, of Caskieben., 12 January 1410.
Included are charters of Deer Abbey which passed to the family on the Reformation as the lordship of Altrie. Notes on these charters appear in Patrick Keith Murray`s `Inventory of Marischal Papers, 1905`, MS.21114.
Confirmation, 14 July 1682, by James II of charter, 11 December 1648, by Sir Andrew Fletcher of Innerpeffer to Sir Robert Fletcher and Katharine Bruce of an annualrent from Saltoun., 14 July 1682.
Sir Andrew Fletcher of Innerpeffer purchased Saltoun and Glencorse in 1642; Glencorse was sold in 1647. The documents concern both the estate and individual members of the family.

Confirmation, 31 August 1536, of bull, or commission, 4 Mat 1536, by Pope Paul III in favour of Peter Balfour, treasurer of Glasgow Metropolitan Church, and John Spens, principal official of St Andrews, to confirm disposition by prior of Pittenweem to John Brown in Anstruther and Beatrix Leirmonth, his spouse, of certain subjects in Pettinweem., 31 August 1536.
The charter and legal material contained here is of importance as giving the continuous history of a landed family in Fife from the 13th to the 18th century. The Halkett family appear to have risen partly on the decline of the Lochores of Lochore. By 1431, the former are having transumpts made of charters of the early 13th century granted to the latter (Ch.6018-6019).
Confirmation, 1546, by Queen Mary of a statute of the magistrates, 1545, providing that the common tacks and steadings of the burgh shall be held by the heirs male of the inhabitants, to prevent outland men taking them., 1546.

A miscellany of charters and other formal documents from the collection of John Smith, Edinburgh. Most of the documents are deeds relating to land tenure in East Lothian, particularly to lands and properties in Dunbar.

The relationship between these families is not clear. The lands of Carse were acquired by Sir Andrew Fletcher in 1628 and 1629.

Confirmation by John Crichton of Ruthvens of charter by Mr John Guthrie of Petmowis to Patrick Guthrie, his son, of Stotfauld etc., 16 January 1571/1572.
The earlier documents relate mainly to Guthrie of Petmowis and the lands of Stotfaulds and others in Monikie, the later to Guthrie of Guthrie and the lands of Hilton and Langlands of Guthrie, which were acquired by Lindsay of Balgays in 1603. There are also documents concerning the Collegiate Church of Guthrie (of which Guthrie of Guthrie was patron) and Innerpeffer (sold to Robert Fletcher in 1596).

Most of the formal documents relate to members of the family of Menzies of that ilk (formerly Menzies of Weem and Enoch) and other persons of the name; Ch.10647 is a passport issued, 1846, to Sir Hew H. Dalrymple, 6th Baronet, whose descendant, the Hon Sir Hew Dalrymple compiled the collection to which all these papers belong.

A collection of five formal documents, 1544-1607, relating to the lands of Skeoch, Stirlingshire (Ch.8486-8490), together with an extract, 1711, of an acknowledgement of payment, 1710, by Charles Hope, 1st Earl of Hopetoun (Ch.8491), and a burgess ticket of Campbeltown, 1764, granted to John Walker, botanist (Ch.8492).
