The manuscript includes biographical notes on French writers killed in the First World War (folio 1), on Bernard d’Aubigny, with extracts from his writings (folios 31, 126), and a corrected typescript by Maurice Barrès of the preface to one of his works (folio 217).

The notes and transcripts are from documents in repositories including the British Museum (the notes being mainly from the Harleian Manuscripts), the Chapter House at Westminster, the Tower of London, and Caius College, Cambridge.

Notes were also taken from Thomas Astle's private collection, now forming part of the Stowe Manuscripts of the British Museum.

The notes consist of summaries and extracts from Lord Monboddo's manuscripts (some of which are now lost) and pocket books, with some additional matter. The first hundred and many other pages are missing.

Scope and Contents

This volume and Adv.MS.15.2.1 consist of extracts and notes by Sir Robert Sibbald from the manuscript called ‘Extracta de Cronicis’ which he says was given by William, Bishop of Dumblane, to Henry Sinclair, Dean of Glasgow, in 1550.

At the end are a few miscellaneous notes from Mylne’s Bishops of Dunkeld, Martins reliquiæ, the Consistorial Acts at Rome regarding promotions of Scotch Churchmen, the manuscript of Boyd of Trochrig and other works.
