The volume is stamped with initials 'TS' on both covers and includes mnemonics for syllogisms (folios 8-9 and possibly also folio 144 verso), ornate alphabets (folio 145), an insulting title page concerning the professor and the inscription of Alexander Cairns (folio i).

‘Tabula super bibliam’. A glossed copy, early 15th century, of a summary of the Bible in Latin verse by Johannes Vasco, Order of Friars Minor, with the explanatory verses which give the date of composition as 1393 (Adv.MS.18.4.2);
Copies, 1623, by John Wither of English rolls of arms, 13th-15 century, mostly from ‘An auntient booke of Armes which Mr Glover Somerset the Harald had of Mr Joseph Holland in Cullers’ (Adv.MS.31.7.10).

Scope and Contents
The first author, Guillaume de Lorris, wrote, circa 1230, a courtly allegorical poem of about 4000 verses, which sought to be an ‘art of love’, and which was continued, circa 1270, by Jean de Meun, who added about 17000 verses in a very different style and ideological frame. The text begins 'Ante fir. lux producitur' and the interlinear gloss '[fir]mamentum. quia deus appellat diem'. There are also interlinear capitals indicating to which parts of the chapter the verse refers. Rubrics at the beginning of each book give the number of chapters.
