Vespasian E.IV.7 in the British Museum, with summaries in English prose of the intervening passages, and with marginal notes, in the hand of George Ellis., 4th quarter of 13th century.
Many of the manuscripts contain notes, indexes, etc., by George Neilson.

The material consists for the most part of references to printed works relating to the county and to various places within, recorded between 1825, the date of the watermark, and at least 1831 (folio 85); preceded by an index at folios 2-13, the leaves of which have been cut and lettered (as in a ledger) for the purpose. Several of the leaves (folios 22, 40, 61-84) are blank.

The notes appear on the rectos of the leaves; most of the versos are blank; those as far as folio 34 verso contain inchoate genealogical notes apparently by Riddell on various Scottish and English families. His incorrect pagination has been ignored. A few leaves at the end of the volume are torn out.
