Scope and Contents From the Fonds:

Robert McLellan (1907-1985) was born near Lanark and educated at Bearsden and Glasgow University. In 1938 he married and moved to Arran, where he spent the rest of his life, except for a period of service in the Royal Artillery, 1940-1946. His most important literary works were plays, but he also wrote poetry, short stories, and books on Arran.

Scope and Contents

The album contains a letter, 1879, of William B MacKenzie, Minister of Kenmore, accompanying four photographs, ?1869, depicting some of the early Celtic remains on Eilean-na-Naoimh in the Garvelloch Isles. Also enclosed is a letter, 1879, of William F Skene, the historian, and four more photographs, 1891.

This photograph album relates to the Forestry Commission during the first half of the 20th century. The photographer and compiler of the album are unknown, but it is possible that the album was compiled by a long serving Forestry Commission officer.

The notes provided by Norman Davidson give detail about each photograph in the album. This research is dated 2017 was undertaken for the Forestry Memories website. The references in these notes relate to the same website.
