Miscellaneous papers of and concerning the Rev Dr Archibald Clive Irvine, including letters, press cuttings, articles, leaflets, an album, and a notebook., 1922-1996, undated.
Dr Irvine trained as a surgeon at Aberdeen before seeing wartime service in Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps from 1917-1919. In 1919, he was appointed medical missionary to the new Church of Scotland mission to Chogoria. He took up his post in 1922 and remained at Chogoria until his retirement in 1961. He was ordained in 1933 and died in Nairobi in 1974.
The photographs, films and papers represent Dr Irvine's working and family life.

Robert Liston was sent on an extraordinary mission to Denmark empowered to sign a convention with Denmark and Russia guaranteeing that peace would not be concluded with France until any territories Denmark lost had been restored to her. After the closing by the British of the Elbe and the Weser, any prospect of a rapprochement with Denmark faded and Liston was recalled.

After the outbreak of hostilities between France and Britain in 1803, he received orders to return immediately if France would not give guarantees to respect Batavian neutrality by withdrawing her troops.
