Papers of the Willison family, who farmed in both Lanarkshire and Perthshire, covering personal and business matters. The collection includes a detailed family history and genealogy composed by Ralph Willison Simmonds (Edinburgh 1989), detailed transcripts and a booklet with historical notes: The Willisons of South Lanarkshire (Edinburgh, 1994), also by Mr Willison - see Acc.11049/1 and Acc.11049/76.
Two letters signed by James III., 1477, 1479.
The first letter, 1477, is also countersigned by William Schevez, Archbishop of St Andrews, to the sheriff of Edinburgh, ordering him to proclaim that no remissions for murder will in future be granted (folio 3); the second letter, 1479, is to John Haldane of Gleneagles, sheriff of Edinburgh, ordering him to apprehend certain murderers, and endorsed by Haldane as executed (folio 6). With the former letter is a nineteenth-century transcript.

The original list was apparently compiled in the late nineteenth century from material in Blackwood’s offices by James Sinton, one of their employees.
It is incomplete in that the attributions of authorship do not cover all the articles, particularly for the early years of the magazine.
This list has now been superseded by MS. 4893.
