Biography

Francis Cameron Yeaman was a Scottish nationalist and politician, and was involved in the Scottish National Party since its creation in 1934. He was a member of the Party’s first Youth movement and later on of the Edinburgh Branch of the Party, becoming its secretary in 1936. He contested the Edinburgh East seat at the 1945 General Election. He played an instrumental role in securing the premises of the SNP Club on St Andrews Square. Francis Cameron Yeaman or Frank Yeaman, as his fellow party members knew him, died in Edinburgh in December 2006.

The political papers reflect his activity as SNP candidate for East Edinburgh at the 1945 general election as well as his involvement in nationalist politics in Scotland and particularly in Edinburgh.
