Italian patriot and poet Ugo Foscolo (1778-1827) arrived in England in 1816 and quickly became part of a large literary circle. This included the publisher, John Murray [II]. Foscolo wrote some articles for the 'Quarterly Review' as well as other periodicals to help relieve his financial woes.
